Training Load Management and Recovery
12 total study hours
Study format: four 3-hour modules with practical activities and a final applied assessment.
Description
Use athlete-monitoring findings to plan training progression, organize demanding and easier sessions, and incorporate recovery. Practice adjusting a training week with a clear rationale.
Audience
Coaches, exercise professionals, athletes, and performance staff.
Applied outcome
Adjust a sample training week and create a recovery plan supported by the athlete’s training history, responses, and practical constraints.
Module 1: Training load, fatigue, and adaptation
3 hours
Distinguish external work from internal response, examine cumulative fatigue and adaptation, and review the limitations of single thresholds or readiness scores.
Module activity: Explain the training demands and response patterns in a sample athlete’s recent workload.
Module 2: Progression and weekly training organization
3 hours
Sequence demanding and easier sessions, balance training demands with competition and other commitments, and justify changes using training history and observed response.
Module activity: Revise a sample training week and explain the purpose of each change.
Module 3: Recovery planning and practical foundations
3 hours
Review sleep, rest, scheduling, basic fueling and hydration principles, and individual recovery preferences within the training context.
Module activity: Build a realistic recovery schedule that fits a sample athlete’s work, travel, and training constraints.
Module 4: Integrated load-and-recovery case and final assessment
3 hours
Use an existing athlete-monitoring report to compare training options, make justified adjustments, and define how the plan will be reviewed.
Module activity: Submit an adjusted weekly training plan, recovery schedule, and short review criteria. This course uses monitoring reports rather than reteaching device setup.
